Process
- Fold paper (around 4 leaves per signature)
- Even signatures leaves the end of the thread at the same end as it starts
- Odd signatures opens the middle of the book in the middle of a signature
- Cut thread holes
- Clamp in press 10mm from spine
- Cut with rod saw
- one for each cord and the thread at each end
- Sew book to cords
- Tie cords to sewing jig
- Wax threads
- Sew in each signature
- wrap each cord and tie at each end
- Round spine
- Shape spine front and back
- Clamp in press 5mm from spine
- Shape spine with hammer
- Trim thumbing edge of pages
- Sew endbands
- Wax thread
- Sew endbands in what ever style you prefer
- Glue gause to support bands
- Make boards
- Cut boards to size
- Bevel spine edge
- Drill two holes for each cord
- Chisel cord paths between holes
- Mount boards
- Thread cords through boards
- Fray cord ends
- Glue cord ends to board
- Cover cords
